British Dyslexia Association - website
An umbrella organisation that is "the voice of dyslexic people. Our vision is that of a dyslexia friendly society that enables dyslexic people to reach their potential." The BDA is made up of over 100 local dyslexia associations and 28 support groups, as well as 86 corporate members. The helpline, handling over 40,000 enquiries each year, is the main link to the dyslexia community. In addition, BDA supports a national network of befrienders whose aim is to enable parents to get the right help for their child.

Formerly the Dyslexia Institute, Dyslexia Action is an educational charity founded in 1972 for the assessment and teaching of people with dyslexia and for training specialist teachers. It is the only national dyslexia teaching organisation in the world. The DI is dependent upon fees from assessments, teaching and training courses, and income from the sale of publications, fundraising and the generosity of benefactors. The DI employs over 240 specialist teachers, its own chartered psychologists, speech and language therapists, and support staff. Some 70 educational psychologists work with the DI on a consultancy basis

A national registered charity consisting of (mostly dyslexic) professionals who are interested in helping children with dyslexia. The aims and objectives of the charity are: To provide free information packs; To provide a telephone help line; To raise awareness and understanding of dyslexia; To support dyslexic children and their parents. Unlike the B.D.A. and D.I. their interests are in employing computer technology to provide more information more cost effectively, for example, by building up a database to connect dyslexic students with Equal Opportunities Employers.
