Dyslexia: Treatment through exercise
Listening Therapy. "This is designed to re-educate the ear to its natural state of proper listening. Part of the problem in listening is the malfunction of the muscles of the middle ear. For this reason, treatment focuses on the muscles of the middle car by giving them a work out. This is neither Sound nor Music Therapy but a unique treatment based on the published life's work of French ENT and Neurological specialist Professor Alfred A Tomatis. The therapy is practised in over 200 centres around the world and has been found to help a whole series of conditions, including Autism, Dyslexia, Vertigo, Deafness, Tinnitus, Stress, Depression, Leaning Difficulties, Epilepsy. …. The initial Assessment will take between 1.5 and 2 hours, and costs £55.00."
Sunflower Method. "In October 2000 the University of Surrey began a four-year research project into the Sunflower Method for helping dyslexics. This is an holistic approach based on applied kinesiology, and the principle that the physical, mental and emotional systems are interdependent- that an imbalance in one area affects the other. The method assesses children's structural levels (skeleton, major organs and muscles), chemical levels (nutrition and digestion) and mental levels (ability to cope with stress). Treatment includes massage, osteopathy, acupressure and homeopathy. Sunflower practitioners use neuro-linguistic programming to boost self-esteem. The theory is that people become locked in "disempowering responses" through force of habit: by learning to change their thoughts, they can change their experience. There are 16 Sunflower practitioners in the UK, all are registered osteopaths or chiropractors and have completed a course of training in applied kinesiology. …. The cost of the Sunflower Therapy varies according to individual needs. However it'll typically involve a course of 10 - 15 appointments over a course of several months at a cost of between £400 to £800."
